Good to know

August weather

Warm days around 25–30 °C, cool nights around 12–15 °C — and the famous steppe wind. Pack a layer.

Money

The currency is the tenge (₸ KZT). Cards are widely accepted in Astana; keep some cash for markets.

Plugs & power

Type C/F sockets (European), 220 V / 50 Hz. UK and US plugs need an adapter.

Two languages

Kazakh and Russian are both everywhere. One word goes a long way: rakhmet — thank you.
