The Auyl

An auyl is a settlement where a whole community lives on one ground. For seven days that ground is Nazarbayev University: you sleep, eat, and legislate inside a single campus, and nothing that matters is further than a walk.

The campus, stood up

Two buildings hold the whole week: BC2 for the plenary and the meals, BC3 for everything that runs in parallel. Scroll to watch them stand up.

The two blocks

Four blocks, and your committee has a number

The Organizing Committee has assigned the rooms. The whole assembly sits in BC2: the atrium for the ceremonies, the ballroom split between the plenary and the dining hall, the open area for the fairs. The committees are spread across three more blocks, one room each.

The three graduate schools, and the building where the General Assembly splits into its parts. Standing committee sessions, trainings, joint sessions, the regional meetings and the fairs all run in parallel here while BC2 stands empty between plenaries.

Room numbers are the Organizing Committee's own, as issued on 29 July. The fair spaces and the evening socials are still open.

BC2 is the university's auditorium block, built with an atrium so you can cross the campus in January without going outside. Everything above is walkable under cover.

The road here has its own guide

From the airportAbout 10 km: roughly 15 minutes by car down Qabanbay Batyr Avenue, the same avenue the campus lives on.

Your bed

One place, and everyone in it

One place, on campus. The Asyr Hotel is not used for this General Assembly: everyone stays in the Nazarbayev University dormitories, and the Organizing Committee assigns the rooms.

NU Dormitories

The whole delegation sleeps in the D blocks on the west of the campus: four-bed rooms with a private bathroom, a few minutes' walk from BC2 and BC3, where the assembly carries on long after the last session closes.

  • The only accommodation for AM26: no hotel this year

  • Bed linen, a pillow, a blanket and Wi-Fi provided: towels and toiletries are not

Who is in the roomFour to a room

Accommodation is in four-bed dormitory rooms with a private bathroom, assigned by the Organizing Committee. Bed linen, a pillow and a blanket are provided; towels and toiletries are not. Detailed booking and room-assignment information is shared after registration; check-in and check-out times will be communicated in advance.

The table

Three meals and the coffee breaks, one hall

A balanced three-meal format: breakfast, lunch, and dinner: served buffet-style for the duration of the General Assembly, with coffee breaks between the working blocks and everything prepared from fresh ingredients. The meal area is badge-only, and one badge admits one person.

Buffet, on campus, close enough that nobody has an excuse for missing the morning plenary.

Lunch

The busiest hour on the ground: the one point in the day when every committee is in the same room. Bring your badge: the meal area is badge-only, and one badge admits one person.

After the day's programme

Dinner

The last meal before the evening turns social. International and local dishes, and tea that outlasts the conversation.

Coffee breaks

Provided too, and the reason a fifteen-minute break takes twenty-five. Tea, coffee, and the corridor conversations that decide half of the plenary.
