Emergency & health

Save one number before you fly: 112. It is Kazakhstan's universal emergency line — it works from any phone, with or without a local SIM, and connects you to every service.
Emergency numbers
| Number | Service |
|---|---|
| 112 | Universal emergency line — works everywhere, any phone |
| 101 | Fire & rescue |
| 102 | Police |
| 103 | Ambulance |
Operators primarily speak Kazakh and Russian. On 112, stay on the line and state your location slowly — "Nazarbayev University" is widely understood. If you can, have a local (volunteer, reception, taxi driver) make the call with you.
During the GA
- The Organizing Committee will run a 24/7 OC hotline during GA week — the number will be published here and in your welcome materials once confirmed.
- For anything medical or safety-related on campus, contact the nearest OC member or volunteer first — they know the campus procedures and can escalate fast.
- Logistics and accommodation issues: logistics.am26@ifmsa-ga.com.
Health & insurance
- Travel insurance is strongly recommended for the entire stay — including any Pre-GA or Post-GA travel. Carry your policy number and the assistance hotline in your wallet, not only in your inbox.
- Bring personal medication in its original packaging with the prescription. Pharmacies (дәріхана / аптека) are common in Astana and many work around the clock.
- The OC will share guidance on the nearest hospital and on-campus first aid in the welcome materials.
Your embassy
If you lose your passport or face a legal issue, your embassy or consulate is the right call. Look up your country's mission in Kazakhstan before you travel — many are in Astana, some only in Almaty — and save the consular emergency number.
Visa or entry trouble
For anything visa-related — at the border or before you fly — contact the visa team at visa.am26@ifmsa-ga.com and your NMO president.
